Frogger
Downtown Jasper – development of pedestrian access. In the past several years, the City of Jasper has been busy revitalizing its “Old Jasper” and downtown area. Since the early 2000’s, the following assets have been developed in the riverfront area: The Jasper City Mill, the Riverwalk, the Spirit of Jasper and Train Depot, the River Centre and most recently, the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
All of these wonderful assets are a short walk from Jasper’s downtown and Courthouse Square. Now, the Courthouse Square infrastructure and revitalization project is scheduled to begin in March 2022.The challenge…getting pedestrians across the busy Highway 164/Third Ave. The City is seeking assistance in using our existing planning tools (Impact Jasper Comprehensive Plan; Transportation Plan; Dubois County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan) to develop the best and safest means of getting pedestrians across the highway.
How might we get pedestrians across a busy highway so they can access the many cultural assets on the riverfront?
